Brother MFC-6890CDW - How to Change the Language
Eiko WagenknechtWe purchased a new A3 multifunction device for our office - a Brother MFC-6890CDW. To save money, we ordered the device from the Netherlands.
Unfortunately, after connecting it, we discovered that the touchscreen was completely in Dutch, and contrary to expectations, there was no menu option to change the language.

During an exceptionally friendly conversation with the Brother hotline, I was guided step by step on how to change the language:
- Within 4 seconds:
- Press Menu on the touchscreen
- Press Start B/W (hardware button)
- Press Scan(ner) 4 times (hardware button)
- Enter 74
- Press Start B/W
- It now shows 0009 on the display. This stands for Dutch.
- Replace this value with 0003 (German).
- Now “PARAMETER INIT” appears on the display and all 4 buttons flash.
- After the beep, enter “99” and the device will restart.
- The device is now completely in German 🙂
By the way, your settings and phone book will not be lost during this process.
Of course, I cannot guarantee the accuracy or that the device will still work afterward.
0004 might be English, but that’s for another Brother device - so just try it out 😉
