Dominion Storage Box

Eiko Wagenknecht

Inspired by a thread in the dominionblog.de forum, I created my own boxes for Dominion. At least one to start with. After realizing how much work it was, I used simple cardboard boxes for the remaining ones.

Instead, I put more effort into designing custom card dividers. These can be used with the homemade boxes or simply inserted into the “official” Dominion boxes (emptied of the plastic holders).

Since the card dividers represent the majority of the work, I’ve dedicated a separate page to them:

Note: I no longer use these boxes as there were too many boxes with the continuously released expansions… so this guide won’t be updated anymore. The card dividers, however, I still actively develop, and as soon as I purchase new expansions, the latest card dividers will be available via the link above shortly afterward.

Card Distribution Across Boxes

Due to the box sizes, I organized the cards as follows (for the base game, Intrigue, and Seaside; the other expansions didn’t fit):

  1. Box: General Cards

    • Instructions (self-created, more on this later)
    • Placeholder cards (the ones with the blue back) from all three editions
    • Placeholder cards for trash, money, etc. (from the base game)
    • The three promo cards (Envoy, Black Market, and Stash)
    • Estates, Duchies, Provinces (from the base game and Intrigue)
    • Empty and replacement cards (from the base game and Intrigue)
  2. Box: General Cards

    • Copper, Silver, Gold, and Curses (from the base game and Intrigue)
  3. Box: Base Game (affiliate link)

    • All kingdom cards from the base game
  4. Box: Kingdom cards Intrigue (affiliate link)

    • All kingdom cards from Intrigue
  5. Box: Kingdom cards Seaside (affiliate link)

    • All kingdom cards from Seaside as well as the corresponding coins, markers, and tableaus

The advantage of this distribution for me is that I can take “only” three or more boxes as needed. Especially with future expansions in mind, I find this concept very expandable.

Box Covers

To make it immediately recognizable what each box contains, I designed and printed appropriate covers. These are now glued to the boxes, making them a bit more attractive. Here’s what they look like (using the Seaside expansion as an example):
