EufyCam 1 vs EufyCam 2 vs EufyCam 2 Pro (with Photos and Videos)

I now own several generations of the EufyCam security camera from Eufy (an Anker subsidiary). Today, I received the latest model, the EufyCam 2 Pro, allowing me to provide a comparison between the different models. So far, it’s been difficult to find reliable information or sample images online.

Feature Comparison
The official specifications don’t show many notable differences, except that the “Pro” camera has a 2K sensor instead of a 1080p sensor. Contrary to the information on the Eufy website, all cameras can be used with a Homebase 1 (T8001) without any issues. I don’t have a Homebase 2 for comparison.
Unofficially, there seem to be more differences. My comparison is based on the following camera versions, which are the most current as of today (May 4, 2021). Update February 27, 2024: I purchased a new “EufyCam 2 Pro” directly from Eufy after one of my EufyCam 2 units developed a defect. This new model is not identical to what was previously sold as EufyCam 2 Pro! I’ll refer to it here as “V2”.
- EufyCam 1 (T8111) with firmware 1.9.3 and subsystem 2.0.6.5-1029-eu
- EufyCam 2 (T8114) with firmware 2.7.4 and subsystem 1.0.91-20210303
- EufyCam 2 Pro (T8140) with firmware 4.5.8 and subsystem 1.0.91-20210303
- EufyCam 2 Pro V2 (T8140R) with firmware 3.0.6.5 and subsystem 0.2.0.6
Here are the differences I discovered, using the EufyCam 1 as a reference.
External Appearance

The cameras look almost identical. Their dimensions are exactly the same, with only slight differences in weight (EufyCam 1: 373g, EufyCam 2: 359g, EufyCam 2 Pro: 360g). Only the labeling on the bottom indicates that we’re dealing with different hardware.
Battery / Charging
- The EufyCam 1 has a 13400mAh battery (officially, though this specification appears to be incorrect) and can be charged via both 5V/2A and 9V/2A. The latter is possible through the Homebase 1. This results in a claimed charging time of 4 hours (9V) or 8 hours (5V).
- The EufyCam 2 and 2 Pro each have a “365 days” battery (capacity unclear) and can only be charged via 5V/2A. According to the manual, charging time is always 12 hours. I couldn’t determine why it takes longer with the same charging current. Perhaps the battery is larger, the charging behavior is less efficient, or one of the specifications is simply incorrect.
Lens
- According to Eufy, the EufyCam 1 has a diagonal field of view of 140° with an F2.2 Sony Exmor IMX323 1/2.9″ sensor, 1080p resolution, and 10m night vision range.
- The EufyCam 2, also according to Eufy, has a field of view of 140° with a Sony Starvis 1/2.8″ sensor at 1080p. I couldn’t find any information about the night vision range or the aperture.
- Finally, the EufyCam 2 Pro, according to Eufy, also has a field of view of 140° with an “F2.0” sensor of unspecified brand, this time in 2K instead of 1080p. I couldn’t find more details.
These specifications seem rather loosely interpreted. In my test images below, you can clearly see that the “140°” of the EufyCam 1 is smaller than the “140°” of the EufyCam 2 / 2 Pro. The EufyCam 2 Pro V2 - although sold as identical - has an angle more similar to the EufyCam 1.
Operating Temperature
- All EufyCams can operate between -20°C and +50°C, so there are no differences here.
App Settings
The settings available in the software (Eufy App) also differ depending on the exact camera model.
I’ll use the EufyCam 1 as a baseline. The EufyCam 2 differs in the following ways:
- You can choose whether to display only the time as a watermark or both time and Eufy logo
- The Eufy logo in the video stream is smaller
- The date format is different (May 04 2021) instead of (2021 May 04)
- Motion detection can only be set in 7 levels instead of 100 levels, but you can select “Humans Only” or “All Motions”
- The speaker volume can be set to three different levels
The EufyCam 2 Pro differs from the EufyCam 2 in the following ways:
- The date format appears like the EufyCam 1 again (2021 May 04). Update 2024: Now it’s in the same format as the EufyCam 2 (May 04 2021).
- Video quality can be set for streaming (Auto / High / Medium / Low) and for recording, you can choose between 2K or 1080p.
The EufyCam 2 Pro V2 differs from the EufyCam 2 Pro in the following ways:
- The displayed date and Eufy logo are significantly larger. The date also uses a new serif font.
Test Images and Videos
The images and videos were taken one after another from the same position and saved with the iOS app. Please ignore any sounds in the videos; these are partly feedback effects from the phone.

If the EufyCam 2 Pro video doesn’t display, it could be due to your browser or its codec support. On my system, the videos play fine locally with Media Player Classic or the Eufy software. This is likely due to the newer codec being used.
Unfortunately, the Eufy iOS app can only save videos and photos in 1080p, even from the EufyCam 2 Pro.
Videos stored on the Homebase rather than through the app have full resolution and frame rate (Video: HVC1 2304×1296 15fps 1585kbps [V: hevc main L5.0, yuv420p, 2304×1296, 1585 kb/s]). That’s 44% more resolution than the EufyCam 1 or EufyCam 2. There might be a bug in the app, or it was decided to keep the file size smaller. I asked Eufy about this. Update 2024: …and of course never received a response.
The image quality of the EufyCam 2 Pro should actually be even better than what the photos/videos above show. In any case, there’s already a noticeable improvement in quality (sharpness and color reproduction) from 1 to 2 to 2 Pro.
Unfortunately, the 2 Pro “V2” is significantly worse in terms of both field of view and subjective image quality. In particular, the colors are rendered much colder.
Feel free to let me know if you discover any other differences.
